Three suspects sought in string of J train robberies [With Video]

JAMAICA — Police were searching for three men wanted in a string of robberies on the J train along Jamaica Avenue between 102nd and 121st streets, the NYPD said.

Authorities said a 22-year-old man riding the J train near Jamaica Avenue and 102nd Street around 2 a.m. Jan. 9 was allegedly punched in the face by one of the suspects. The trio allegedly went through the victim’s pockets but were unable to obtain any property, according to cops.

A woman riding the J train around 6:40 p.m. Jan. 12 near Jamaica Avenue and 121st Street was approached by the three suspects, who allegedly snatched her iPhone 5 from her hand and ran from the scene, police said.

A third robbery occurred around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 16 when the suspects went up to a 26-year-old woman on the J train near Jamaica Avenue and 111th Street and allegedly grabbed the iPhone 4S from her hands, the NYPD said.

None of the victims were injured during the robberies, according to police.

The suspects are described by investigators as three black men in their late teens and about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10. The first suspect was last seen wearing a red winter jacket, dark pants and dark shoes, the second suspect was also seen wearing dark clothing and the third teen was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark winter jacket with a gray or white hooded sweatshirt underneath, according to cops.
