One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a five-alarm inferno that consumed a recycling center in Greenpoint on Tuesday night, Mar. 18, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the blaze broke out at about 7 p.m. inside the facility located at the corner of Greenpoint Avenue and Humboldt Street. More than 50 Fire Department units responded to the blaze along with the 94th Precinct and EMS units. As the Times Newsweekly went to press on Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 19, firefighters were still at the scene working to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
