Pedestrian struck, killed in Whitestone: NYPD

WHITESTONE — An 87-year-old Whitestone woman was struck and killed when she was crossing Willets Point Boulevard Tuesday night, police said.

Agatha Tsunis was trying to walk from the south side of the street to the north when she was hit by a black 1999 Volvo, according to cops.

When responding officers arrived on scene, they found her unconscious and unresponsive with head injuries, police said.

She was rushed to New York Hospital Queens where she was pronounced dead.

The NYPD said the driver remained on scene, no arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
