City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer recently became the first recipient of the Alexander T. Wells Community Service Award in Long Island City. The award was given to the Van Bramer on behalf of the Long Island City/Astoria Lions Club at their annual meeting. The honor is bestowed upon outstanding individuals who have made a difference in the community and throughout New York City. The Lions Club is the first Lions Club chartered in New York State. Van Bramer is pictured with Lions Club President Nick Vaglica and Treasurer John Dallaire.
