F.h. Motorcyclist Killed In Crash

Loses Control Of Ride, Hits Turning Vehicle

A Forest Hills motorcyclist died on Monday afternoon, Sept. 22, after his ride collided with a turning vehicle in Cunningham Park, law enforcement sources said.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old David Duran of 64th Avenue.

Reportedly, the fatal crash occurred at about 4:07 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 73rd Avenue and the Clearview Expressway’s southbound offramp.

According to information detectives obtained, Duran was riding his 2006 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on 73rd Avenue near the exit ramp with a 2009 Mazda Miata, operated by a 54-year-old driver, ahead of him.

Reportedly, the driver stopped his vehicle on 73rd Avenue just west of the off-ramp, then made a u-turn onto the avenue’s eastbound lane.

As he did so, authorities stated, Duran’s motorcycle began to skid, then turned over onto its side and slammed into the turning vehicle. The Mazda’s driver reportedly remained at the scene.

Officers from the 107th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the location. Paramedics brought Duran, who suffered severe body trauma, to New York Hospital Queens, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No charges were filed against the other driver, it was noted.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.
