Woodside motorcyclist dies following crash in Astoria

A Woodside man died after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing on Steinway Street in Astoria Sunday morning, police said.

Nathaniel Gomez, 22, was found on 23rd Avenue and Steinway Street by police at 5:43 a.m. Gomez was unconscious and unresponsive, and he suffered trauma to his head and body.

EMS transported him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

According to detectives, Gomez was traveling southbound on Steinway Street when he crashed.

No arrests have been made and an inquiry by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing, police said.
