A woman committed suicide by jumping on the train tracks at the Elmhurst Avenue station in Elmhurst on Friday morning, police said.
The woman, who has not been identified, jumped just before 9 a.m., according to officials. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the woman, who is 30- to 40-years-old jumped from a Manhattan bound M train platform. According to the MTA website, there are extensive delays on the E, F, M and R trains because of the incident.
The event is under investigation, an NYPD spokesperson said.
