For the seventh year in a row, the Taste of Sunnyside food festival will highlight local restaurants serving international cuisine under the 7 train.
Hosted by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District on May 23, the event will allow participants to try food from more than 20 restaurants and beverage purveyors in the neighborhood. Tickets went on sale earlier this month. A VIP ticket allows for early entry and costs $70, while a general admission ticket costs $40.
The event, hosted at 46th Street and Queens Boulevard underneath the elevated 7 line officially starts at 6:30 p.m. Participating establishments include Italian eatery SoleLuna, Peruvian restaurant Dayboat, Tibetan Dumpling Cafe and Boon by Moldova.
Ticket holders can wash down their food with brews from Big aLICe Brewing, Queens Brewery, Bronx Brewery and Lowery Liquors and Wine. Taste of Sunnyside will also feature live entertainment and raffle giveaways.
“The Taste of Sunnyside is one of Sunnyside’s biggest annual events for a reason – the combination of diversity and community spirit is like no place else,” said Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “Ninety-five percent of attendees have told us that they plan to return to a restaurant they sampled the first time at the Taste, which says a lot about the quality of their experience.”
According to Bean, two thirds of participants come from Queens and 21 percent of attendees come to the event from other boroughs and the remaining 4 percent travel from outside of New York City.
