After the Memorial Day weekend, residents of Middle Village will find themselves dealing with even more parking restrictions as the Penelope Avenue sewer project starts back up again.
According to the city’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC), three construction operations will resume starting on or about Tuesday, May 30, and will continue to Friday, June 2.
The first project will start on or about May 30 and will last until May 31, when crews will install 18-inch ESVP combined sewer pipes at the intersection of Juniper Valley Road and 77th Street. This will mean temporary elimination of curbside parking and driveway access in the area. Vehicles must be moved drives prior to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.
Also starting on May 30, and lasting until June 2, will be the instillation of catch basins and chutes along Juniper Valley Road between 75th Place and 77th Street.
Again, this will lead to the temporary elimination of curbside parking and driveway access. Cars must be removed from driveways before 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.
Finally, beginning on or about Thursday, June 1 and lasting until Friday, June 2, curbside parking and driveway access will be temporarily eliminated on Gray Street between Juniper Valley Road and 66th Drive in conjunction with the instillation of 30-inch RCP combined sewer pipes.
No parking signs will be posted 72 hours before the restrictions go into effect.
Only emergency vehicles will have full access to the streets during times of construction. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Full access to curbside parking and driveways will be restored at the completion of construction.
Throughout the duration of the construction, DDC will monitor operations and work within Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Noise Code Regulations.
