Joseph Smart, 47, a Far Rockaway Beach Blvd. resident who lived in public housing at 82-01 Beach Channel Drive, was found dead in a stairwell with multiple stab wounds, police said.
The 100th Precinct received a 911 call at 1:35 a.m. Sunday about Smart, who was dead at the scene.
An Emergency Service Unit was requested to search a nearby elevator shaft and compactor to collect evidence, police said.
There were no suspects at this time and the investigation was ongoing.
