Things are getting busy as we roll into day 3 of “City Hall in Your Borough” in Queens.
At 10:30 a.m., Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, Councilman I. Daneek Miller and State Senator Leroy Comrie will open the fully-renovated Pat Williams Playground, located at 224th Street and 101st Avenue in Queens Village.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio and First Lady Chirlane McCray will announce CreateNYC, the city’s plan to expand access to cultural institutions and the arts in New York City, at Materials for the Arts, located at 33-00 Northern Blvd. in Long Island City.
At 11 a.m., Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph J. Esposito will unveil a new high water mark sign at Beach 98th Street and Shore Front Parkway in Rockaway Beach, where storm surge waters reached nine feet during Hurricane Sandy.
Meanwhile, at the corner of Myrtle and Cooper Avenues, Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, Design and Construction Acting Commissioner Ana Barrio, the Department of Transportation and Parks Department will join with local veteran groups to open the new Myrtle-Cooper Plaza.
At noon, Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg and City Council Member Donovan Richards will unveil safety improvements on Merrick Boulevard in Rosedale. At the same time, Social Services Commissioner Steven Banks will be demonstrating the improved AccessHRA app and website at the HRA Office, located at 32-20 Northern Blvd. in Long Island City.
At 12:15, Commissioner for the Aging Donna M. Corrado, State Senator Joseph Addabbo and Assembly Member Stacey Pheffer Amato will visit the JASA Rockaway Park Senior Center, located at 106-20 Shore Front Pkwy. in Rockaway Park.
At 1:45 p.m., de Blasio will visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park with Borough President Katz.
Later, at 2:30 p.m. Deputy Mayor Richard Buery and Commissioner for the Aging Corrado will release “Age-Friendly NYC: New Commitments for a City for All Ages” at Sunnyside Community Services, located at 43-31 39th St. Meanwhile, Housing and Preservation Development Commissioner Maria Torres-Springer and Council Member Richards will tour Edgemere, located at 426 Beach 40th St. in Far Rockaway, and discuss HPD’s Community Plan: Resilient Edgemere, the use of Community Land Trusts, and other developments in the area.
At 3 p.m. at Beach 69th Street between Beach Channel Drive and Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Arverne, Housing Recovery Operations Director Amy Peterson will tour homes in construction in Edgemere and Arverne, with a key turnover to one family in Arverne.
At 4 p.m., DCA Commissioner Lorelei Salas and Council Member Constantinides will hold a Business Education Day at 29-01 Broadway in Long Island City. Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Buery and MOPD Commissioner Victor Calise will be at JetBlue headquarters (located at 27-01 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City) to announce the release of the second edition of “AccessibleNYC.”
At 5:45 p.m., the Mayor will visit a Local 3 IBEW picket line to meet with cable technicians on strike. This will take place at 22-85 31st St. in Astoria.
At 7 p.m., Mayor de Blasio, Council Member Costa Constantinides and City agency commissioners and senior representatives will host a town hall meeting at P.S. 70, located at 30-44 43rd St. There will be Q-and-A with members of the public.
