A worker at a Woodhaven day care center was arrested after losing sight of a 4-year-old boy he was supposed to be watching at a visit to Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Oscar Jaramillo, 32, who operates the PeekABoo Daycare center with his wife in Woodhaven, brought the 4-year-old boy — whose first name was later revealed to be Emi by the 104th Precinct — and his 8-year-old daughter to Juniper Valley Park on Aug. 29.
Law enforcement agents confirmed that Parks Department found the child alone in the park around 12:45 p.m., and Jaramillo called police at 5:20 p.m. to report the missing child.
The 104th Precinct posted a photo of Emi on their Twitter account just after 5 p.m.

“Emi, 4, was found in Juniper Valley Park at around noon today & we are attenpting [sic] to find his parents,” the tweet read. “Please contact us if you know him!”
The photo of Emi was widely shared across Twitter and other social media sites, and approximately 40 minutes later, the 104th Precinct tweeted that Emi’s parents had been found and contacted.
The child’s parents came to pick him up from the 104th Precinct on Catalpa Avenue later that evening, cops said.
Following an investigation, Jaramillo was booked on charges of child abandonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
