A man tried to rape a 24-year-old woman in Woodside early on the morning of Aug. 17, according to the NYPD. The suspect approached the woman in the vicinity of Woodside Avenue and 61st Street at around 12:30 a.m. and pretended to have a gun as he exposed himself, police said.
He then forced the victim to touch his genitals, police said. The suspect then tried to lure the woman to a secluded area near a construction site, but the victim was able to run away from the perpetrator when he saw people walking into the area. The suspect fled in an unknown direction, police said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man with a light complexion, around 25 years old, 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds. He has brown hair and was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark green pants, and a gray cap.
