Film crews will be shooting scenes at St. Matthias Church and another nearby location formerly owned by the church in Ridgewood on Thursday.
Signage for the production give the name “Villa Roma” but when searched for on IMDB, Villa Roma Productions comes up, which is producing the Martin Scorsese film, “The Irishman” which previously filmed in Ridgewood in July.
Starting at 8 a.m. film crews will be working inside St. Matthias Church, located at 58-15 Catalpa Ave., where they will be filming interior dialogue scenes and baptism scenes. The film has obtained permits from the FDNY for the use of 100 lit candles, atmospheric haze inside the church, and the smoking of herbal cigarettes.
Filming at the church is expected to last until 8 p.m.
Parking restrictions correlated with this filming are as follows:
- The entirety of Myrtle Avenue between Forest Avenue and Seneca Avenue;
- One truck length along the south side of Cornelia Street between Myrtle Avenue and Seneca Avenue;
- One truck length on both the north and south sides of Catalpa Avenue between Myrtle Avenue and Seneca Avenue;
- All of Seneca Avenue between Catalpa Avenue and Myrtle Avenue;
- One truck length on the north and south sides of 70th Avenue between Onderdonk Avenue and Forest Avenue;
- The full block of Onderdonk Avenue between Catalpa Avenue and Myrtle Avenue;
- A single truck length along the east side of Onderdonk Avenue between Cornelia Street and Catalpa Avenue;
- The full east side of Forest Avenue between 68th Avenue and 69th Avenue;
- All of Catalpa Avenue between Forest Avenue and 60th Street; and
- Two truck lengths along the west side of Forest Avenue between 69th Avenue and Myrtle Avenue.
At 4 p.m. filming will begin at 880 Woodward Ave. where crews will shoot establishing shots of the outside of the building.
Permits have been provided for period background cars moving through the scene; actors crossing the street; a wet down with hydrant permit; actors with sidearms, with no shots being fired; background actors in police uniforms with sidearms; permission to cover and remove Department of Transportation street signs and to control street lamps; and the use of exterior atmospheric haze.
This filming is expected to last until midnight.
Parking restrictions related to this project are as follows:
- The entirety of Woodward Avenue between 68th Road and Catalpa Avenue;
- A quarter of the north and south sides of Catalpa Avenue between Forest Avenue and Onderdonk Avenue; and
- One truck length along the north side of Catalpa Avenue between Onderdonk Avenue and Woodward Avenue.
