Police are investigating a car crash in Brooklyn that left a Jamaica man dead early Wednesday morning.

At 3 a.m. on Nov. 1, police responded to a 911 call motor vehicle collision at Havemayer Street and South Fifth Street in Williamsburg. Upon their arrival, they found 29-year-old Jean Caliste, of Jamaica, unconscious and unresponsive with trauma about the head and body in a 2017 Ford Focus. Police also found a 26-year-old female in the vehicle with minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad found that the vehicle was exiting from the Williamsburg Bridge exit ramp and lost control and overturned.

EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to Elmhurst Hospital, where Caliste was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
