Crews have topped out the long-awaited TWA Flight Center hotel at JFK Airport.
Since the project broke ground in December 2017, the second hotel tower has been fully topped out and a seven-layer, soundproofed glass façade is almost complete on the north tower. Once it is completed, the wall will make the TWA Hotel home to some of the quietest hotel rooms in the world.
Headed by MCR and Morse Development, the $265 million project aims to recapture when the TWA Flight Center was built in 1962, reviving and rehabilitating the Terminal’s iconic interiors by Charles Eames, Raymond Loewy and Warren Platner. In addition to featuring a TWA Museum filled with vintage TWA memorabilia, the hotel will include 505 rooms, a rooftop pool, an observation deck, 50,000 square feet of event space, and eight bars and restaurants.
While it was originally meant to open this year, the hotel is now slated to open in the spring of 2019.
