Police have a suspect in custody who is said to be involved in a fatal stabbing in Jackson Heights on Thursday night.
On Sept. 27 at 9:41 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who was stabbed at the corner of Roosevelt Avenue and 80th Street.
When authorities and EMS arrived at the scene, they found a man with multiple stab wounds in his upper torso. A knife was also found at the scene of the crime. The victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The name of the victim has yet to be released pending family notification.
According to the police, members of the 115th Precinct apprehended a 32-year-old male suspect at the scene of the stabbing who was also taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center with EMS. A photo of the suspect was posted on to the 115th Precinct Twitter page last night. The photo depicts two men in mid run, one carrying a backpack. Police have not confirmed which one to the pair was the apprehended suspect.
The name of the assailant has yet to be released and charges are still pending while the investigation remains ongoing.
