NYPD officers assigned to the U.S. Open detail intervened Saturday, Sept. 10, when a man tried to commit suicide by tying a cord around his neck and attempting to jump off an overpass within the confines of the 110th Precinct.
At approximately 5:55 p.m., a Hispanic man was seen standing on Zoo Bridge when he proceeded to climb over the railing. He had one leg over the railing of the overpass and tried to tie what appeared to be a cellphone charging cord around his neck, according to authorities. When officers saw this, they intervened, grabbing both of his arms to guide him back onto the overpass.
