An elderly man was beaten and robbed during a random attack inside a shop at the Flushing Center Mall early last month, according to authorities.

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are on the lookout for the suspect who approached the 74-year-old victim at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, inside the store at 40-24 College Point Blvd. and punched him in the head multiple times, police said. A verbal and physical dispute followed, causing the victim to drop a shopping bag. The assailant grabbed the bag, which contained clothing and other miscellaneous items, and took off in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the suspect on Nov. 2 that shows the suspect coming off an escalator at the mall holding a POLO shopping bag and described him as having a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a black and white hat, a black jacket over a white shirt, black jeans and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
