RESULTS: Middle Village Players Roller Hockey League championship match set after opening round of the playoffs

A thrilling set of games in the final stretch of the Middle Village Players Roller Hockey League’s season only furthers the competition heading into the championship match.

In the first game of the playoffs, the Hawks outlasted the Bears 5-4 in a showing of phenomenal defense. The game was only seconds away from hitting overtime, but the Hawks fought hard and earned the victory.

Coaches Gary, Jojo and Eugene lead the way in helping the Bears in their hard-fought playoff battle.

The second game featured the Jets and the High Flyers, who played a nail-biting contest. With a 0-0 score into the third period, the High Flyers scored twice to clinch a 2-0 victory.

In next week’s game, the Hawks and the High Flyers will battle it our for the league’s top spot and the MVP Cup. The Bears and the Jets will face off in a showdown for third place.

Championship weekend will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18.

League President Paul Pogozelski, called this season a success with the help of all supporters, parents and players involved.
