A cab driver was critically injured during a shooting outside an Astoria nightclub early Friday morning, according to police.
The shooting took place at about 4:40 a.m. in front of a nightclub identified as Club Purlieu located at 36-04 34th St.
Prior to the shooting, sources familiar with the investigation said, the victim picked up four male passengers in the Bronx and drove them to the location. He waited outside the club as the four individuals entered the club.
Authorities said the group then came back out to cab amid an ongoing dispute with unidentified individuals. During the argument, several shots were fired, one of which struck the cab driver in the back of the head.
Police said the injured driver drove a short distance down the block before crashing into several vehicles.
Officers from the 114th Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Paramedics brought the driver to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
