Detectives from the 109th Precinct need the public’s help in finding a thief who snatched a purse containing thousands of dollars in cash from a shopper’s cart at a College Point store.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the TJ Maxx store located at 136-05 20th Ave.

According to a post on the 109th Precinct’s Twitter page posted on Jan. 9, the purse which the bandit grabbed contained $6,000 in cash.

The 56-year-old female victim’s purse was taken from beneath her shopping cart when she stepped away, police said.

Anyone with information in regard to the robbery is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website, on Twitter @NYPDTips or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
