Echoing The Queens Couriers informal survey at Clintons favorite Queens diner in Fresh Meadows (see adjoining article), a Daily News poll on Sunday of 200 New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs showed that 76 percent think the probe should end immediately and the nation should get back to business. When broken down by the boroughs, Queens got the most support with 83 percent saying he should stay, only 11 percent thinking he should go, with six percent undecided. From Springfield Gardens to Forest Hills, from Bayside to Jamaica, from Ozone Park to Rego Park, the Daily News survey showed solid support for the President.
In the other boroughs the support for Clinton was 67 percent in Manhattan, 76 percent in both Brooklyn and the Bronx and 82 percent in Staten Island. The Daily News survey was not far off the national polls. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released on Saturday showed support for Clinton at 67 percent up from 64 percent in July. A Newsweek survey found that 59 percent of respondents believe Clinton is still up to the job of leading the country, 58 percent say he should not consider resigning and overall 60 percent oppose impeachment proceedings. But while support for Clintons job performance remains high, even many of his supporters do not approve of his personal life performance with 54 percent saying that they think he should be censured.
