Bulldogs bite back

A week after falling to Springfield Gardens (15-2, 11-1 Queens III-A), Campus Magnet returned the favor Saturday afternoon, topping their southeast Queens rivals, 57-50. Patrick Bordeau and Keith McAllister scored 17 points apiece and Malachi Peay added 13. The Bulldogs (17-3, 11-1 Queens III-A) held Charles Jenkins, Springfield Gardens’ star guard, to just 17 points.
Christ the King (16-2, 8-1 CHSAA West) avenged their first league loss of the year with a dominating 75-49 win over Bishop Loughlin behind Rob Hampton’s 18 points.
In girls results, Christ the King (17-0, 9-0 CHSAA I) increased their win streak to 44 games, routing Molloy 54-33. Tina Charles had 21 points, 17 rebounds and seven blocks, going over the 1,000 rebound milestone for her career. Sky Lindsay added nine points and Lorin Dixon chipped in with six points and six assists.
In the PSAL ‘B’ Girls Basketball Showcase, Flushing (17-0, 11-0 Queens III-B) remained undefeated, topping LaGuardia, 60-44, on the strength of 22 points from Jazmin Bradley. Andrea Buckham added 20. Also, Newtown (12-1, 11-1 Queens II-B) beat Gompers, 51-35. Natasha Pierre Louis scored 24 points and juniors Talaya Melton and Amaryli Ortiz each scored 10.
