Dwi Crash on Parkway In East Elmhurst

An alleged drunk driver was injured, and later arrested, after crashing his sports utility vehicle into a construction site on the Grand Central Parkway in East Elmhurst early last Saturday morning, Oct. 13, it was reported. Fire Department sources said the accident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. along the westbound lanes of the parkway near 94th Street. Reportedly, the SUV was moving at a high rate of speed before it struck the construction site, overturned and hit a utility pole. Members of Engine Co. 263, Ladder Co. 117, Rescue 4, Battalion 49, the 115th Precinct, NYPD Emergency Services Unit 10, Highway Patrol Unit 3 and EMS units responded to the scene. The driver was brought to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment of his injuries, which were not life-threatening. Reportedly, he was later booked by police on DWI charges as a result of an investigation into the accident.
