Robbers Smash Victim

Hit With Bottle In Sunnyside Mugging

One of two alleged bandits who bashed a 55-year-old man with a glass bottle and robbed him on a Sunnyside street last Saturday night, Dec. 28, was collared by police hours after the incident, authorities reported.

Police identified the arrested suspect as 26-year-old Emanuel Bourdier of Horace Harding Expressway in Corona. His alleged cohort remained at large as the Times Newsweekly went to press Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31.

According to law enforcement sources, the robbery occurred at about 11:55 p.m. last Saturday along 42nd Street just north of Queens Boulevard.

Reportedly, the victim was approached by the two robbers, one of whom struck the man in the head with a glass bottle.

After injuring the man, police said, the bandits removed the victim’s wallet-which contained $200 in cash-then fled from the scene, running southbound on 42nd Street toward Queens Boulevard.

Members of the 108th Precinct responded to the incident.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital for what was described by police as a minor head injury.

Based on information obtained during its investigation, police tracked down and arrested Bourdier on Sunday, charging him with a count of second-degree robbery.

An investigation by the 108th Precinct Detective Squad is ongoing, law enforcement sources said.
