VITO J. PAPAPIETRO died on Thursday, February 13, at the age of 77. He
was the beloved husband of Priscilla Papapietro, loving father of Anthony
Papapietro and Lynn Papapietro, cherished grandfather of Anthony and Paige
and dear brother of Ann Nappi. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served
during the Vietnam War. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday,
February 18, at St. Margaret Church, Middle Village, followed by cremation
at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of Papavero
Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth.

IRMA LACKNER of Glendale died on Saturday, February 15, at the age of
73. Anative ofYugoslavia (present day Slovenia), she was the devoted mother
of John S. and Richard K. Lackner and dear sister of Rose Eppich, Marie
Petschauer and Bertha Eppich. She is also survived by three grandchildren. A
Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Sacred Heart Church, Glendale,
followed by interment at All Faiths Cemetery, Middle Village, under the

RISTA CIURAR of Ridgewood died on Wednesday, February 12, at the age
of 63. A native of Recas, Romania, he was the beloved husband of Maria and
devoted father of Ion, Ciurar, Shumona Ciurar, Rina Mijah and Marioara
Ciurar. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren. Services were offered at
Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood,
followed by interment at Cimitriul Cacea Buziasul, Timisoara, Romania.

MAGDY GAD of Astoria died on Tuesday, February 11, at the age of 59. A
native of Alexandria, Egypt, he was the beloved husband of Maria
Bachouryna, loving son of Azer Gad and Fawzia Youseff El Sharky and dear
brother of Nagy Gadand Samir Gad. A Divine Liturgy was offered at St.
George Egyptian Coptic Church, Woodside, followed by interment at All
Saints Cemetery, Great Neck, L.I., under the direction of Morton Funeral

NICOLAI CARUSO of Manhattan died on Monday, February 3, at the age
of 87. A native of Romania, he was the husband of the late Raisa. A Divine
Liturgy was offered at St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church, Woodside,
by Rev. Marius Dimitrescu, followed by interment at Forest Green Park,
Morganville, N.J., under the direction of Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood
Chapels, 663 Grandview Ave., Ridgewood.

THOMAS ANTHONY PEPE died on Friday, February 14, at the age of 74. He was the beloved husband of Linda
R. Pepe; loving father of Thomas Jr. and Lynette, Christopher and Erin, and Tricia and Arren; cherished grandfather
of Daniel, Jack, Deanna, Lauren, Leah and Mason; and dear uncle of Nicholas and Scott Sardo. He was a distinguished
member of the New York State and Michigan State Bar Associations, practiced law for over 40 years and was greatly
admired by his peers. He graduated from St. John’s University and Detroit College of Law and attended New York
University Graduate School of Law. He continued to run Nicholas C. Pepe Corp., a business started by his father in
1929, where he practiced law, real estate and insurance. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Tuesday, February
18, at St. Cecilia’s Church, Greenpoint, followed by interment at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, Port Washington, L.I.,
under the direction of Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand Ave., Maspeth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
in his memory to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, www.lymphoma.org.

Dominican Republic, she was the beloved wife of Juan Taveras, devoted mother of Grace Taveras and Gabriella
Taveras, loving daughter of Maria Pena and dear sister of Marcela Roman, Lydia Roman and Juan Roman. A Mass of

Carmella, Robin, William and Paris. She was a cherished great-aunt to many great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass

loving brother of Sadie Cantone and the late Larry Forgione and dear uncle of Jimmy Forgione, Lucille Hoell, Rosalie
Greer, Robert Forgione, Rosemarie Burns, Theresa Gampa, Amy Cantone and Gerard Cantone. A private cremation

husband of the late Antoinette, devoted father of Joseph and Frank Mulé and dear brother of Maria Bivona and Frank
