FREDERICK “FRED” W. KUMP, 90, of Ephrata, Pa. passed away
Sunday, November 2, at the Mt. Joy Hospice Center in Ephrata. Born
January 4, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Pauline (Wittrich)
Kump. He was the husband of the late Margaret H. (nee Kuhn) Kump
who died June 18, 2008.
Fred retired from the New York City Sanitation Department where
he was a foreman for more the 21 years.
He is survived by two children, William J. Kump of Ephrata and
Marilyn Wolf of Long Island; grandchildren, William, Peter, Zachary,
William and Ashley; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by
one son, Frederick P. Kump, one sister, Eleanor Bazik and two
brothers, John Kump and Lewis Kump.
The funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the
family. Burial will be in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley, Pa. The
Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home has been entrusted with the

MARIA SFERA of Ridgewood died on Sunday, November 2, at the
age of 82. A native of Lokve, Yugoslavia, she was the wife of the late
Petru and devoted mother of John Sfera and Maria Gucu. She is also
survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services
were offered at Morton Funeral Home/Ridgewood Chapels, 663
Grandview Ave., Ridgewood, by Rev. Dimitri Musta, followed by
interment at Linden Hill Cemetery, Ridgewood.

NGIN ZALANGH died on Friday, October 31, at the age of 64. He
was the beloved husband of Khual Z. Man and loving father of Joseph
S. Mung, Do Khan Khup, Thang Cin Pau, Nem Deih Lun, Ngai Sian
Dim, Thang En Khai, Luan Ngaih Nuam, Ngin Kam Cin and Sian
Muan Thang. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren. Services were
offered on Saturday, November 1, at Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27
Grand Ave., Maspeth, followed by interment at Mount Olivet
Cemetery, Maspeth.

JULIO MARTAS of Silver
Springs, Md. died on
Wednesday, October 29, at the
age of 88. A native of Fajardo,
Puerto Rico, he was the
husband of the late Emilia,
devoted father of Julie Martas,
Jose Martas and Juan Martas
and dear brother of Celia
Garcia. He is also survived by
four grandchildren. Services

Ridgewood, followed by
interment at Municipal
Cemetery, Fajardo, Puerto
Rico.

HARRY MARRERO died on
Tuesday, October 28, at the age
of 64. He was the beloved
brother of Norma Ostraco,
brother-in-law of Frank and
cherished uncle of Toby, Jason
and Stephanie. He is also
survived by numerous cousins
and friends. A Mass of
Christian Burial was offered on
Monday, November 3, at
Transfiguration Church,
Williamsburg, followed by a
private cremation at Fresh Pond
Crematory, Middle Village
under the direction of Papavero
Funeral Home, 72-27 Grand
Ave., Maspeth.
