A Bellerose grandmother was killed Sunday morning after her grandson accidentally backed his vehicle over her while in the driveway in front of her home, police said.

The incident occurred at 10:32 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 13 in front the home of 75-year-old Chandrawati Lathan on 267th Street near 83rd Avenue.

According to published reports, the driver was Lathan’s grandson Jadesh, who lives at the location of the incident with his parents and grandparents. He was backing a 2004 Toyota Sequoia into the driveway to make it easier for his grandparents to get into the car so he could take them to church.

However, police said, his grandmother stepped into the path as he went in reverse.

Officers from the 105th Precinct and EMS units responded to the incident. Lathan was transported to North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Lathan’s grandson has not been charged with any wrongdoing. The NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
