A turn-of-the-century home on the corner of Bleecker Street and 61st Street in Ridgewood has just been sold for just over $1 million, according to Mike Schulte of The Schulte Team at real estate company Citi Habitats.
The two-story Victorian home located at 62-46 61st St. was built in 1899 and comes with a porch, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full basement with laundry, and three, one-car garages, plus 945 additional feet of buildable square footage.
Every original detail of the home is still intact, including the ornate woodwork and pocket doors retaining their original finishes. However, all of the structural systems, including heating, plumbing, electrical, roof, siding and windows have all been updated for modern comfort.
The upstairs bathroom retains its original Victorian tilework and remains in excellent condition, as does the kitchen and the entrance vestibule with its double oak portrait window entrance doors. The ground-floor bathroom dates from around mid-century, when it was added to the home, Schulte explained.
The kitchen sink and cabinets are from around the 1940s-1950s Youngstown Kitchens, and come with a new stove and a recent refrigerator, he added.
The home is near many public transportation options including the QM 24 and QM 34 express buses into Manhattan, the QM 25 to downtown Manhattan, as well as the M train.
The property was originally listed at $850,000 and drew a lot of interest from potential buyers, as 42 people showed up at the first open house. In all, 12 offers were made, and the home sold for $1.045 million.
