Police are looking for a serial burglar who broke into two homes in Corona and Elmhurst last month and got away with cash, electronics and a credit card.
According to the NYPD, the suspect entered a home at 57th Avenue and Van Doren Street in Emhurst on Jan. 3 around 2:30 a.m.. He entered through the front door, which was unlocked, and stole $1,400 in cash, a credit card, Beats headphones and two Apple Mini iPads.
He was later caught on surveillance purchasing items with the credit card from a 7-Eleven in Corona.
On Jan. 23, the suspect “forcibly entered” a home at 108th Street and 51st Avenue in Corona through the back window but did not steal anything. According to police, he fled the location when a person in the house witnessed him trying to break in.
The suspect went back to the house the same night at 2:30 a.m. and tried breaking in through the second floor window and was confronted by the same person who tried to stop him from fleeing. The victim was able to recover some of the stolen property but the suspect got away with sneakers, car keys and $40 in cash.
Police describe the victim as a Hispanic male who is approximately 5 feet, 5 inches and 25 to 30 years old.
