House fire in Bellerose leaves one woman dead and many firefighters injured

Authorities are investigating a fire at a Bellerose home that left a senior woman dead on Monday evening.

According to police, at 6:31 p.m. on June 18, officers from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a fire at 87-65 252nd St. Upon their arrival, they found FDNY personnel on the scene taking action to suppress the fire.

The Fire Department deployed 12 units and over 60 personnel to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 7:24 p.m.

FDNY personnel found 82-year-old Audrey Hebling inside the home’s kitchen, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced her dead at the scene.

Two firefighters suffered serious injuries and were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Six firefighters also suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze.

The Medical Examiner will determine the victim’s cause of death. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
