The JFK Airport Chamber of Commerce held its annual Golf event and honored Worldwide Flight Services Phil Jensen at its dinner.
Luckily the weather cooperated and foursomes had a great time playing scramble. That was good choice since many participants go to have a good time and not quite up to par with some of the serious players.
This was another Chamber event that brings together the various businesses at the airport to enjoy a fun day, meet new people and network at the accommodating Lawrence Country Club which provided excellent lunch, cocktail hour and
seafood bar before dinner. Refreshments during the outing were provided by WFS with margaritas and tropical drinks to mark the end of summer. Tall Order socks were sold to help support the victims of 9-11 and the Chamber sold tees and sweats to raise money for the upcoming 9-11 Memorial Garden.
At the award presentation, President Joe Clabby and some of the board members donned cowboy hats and horsed around with honoree Phil Jensen whose passion and hobby is horses.
In accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award Jensen recognized many people who helped him throughout his 30+ years at the airport and especially WFS for its commitment to the Chamber and community at JFK.
Not to be missed is the upcoming Autumn JFK Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on October 10 featuring Jet blue president Joanna Geraghty.
