The FDNY is investigating the cause of a fire that ripped through a Flushing home Thursday, that resulted in the death of a woman.
According to authorities, police responded to a 911 call Jan. 31 at 6:10 p.m. regarding a fire at 148-40 60th Ave. FDNY firefighters arrived at the scene and began taking measures to extinguish the fire.
Once the fire was under control, FDNY personnel entered the building and found 47-year-old Maria Medina on the first floor, unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the location and pronounced Medina dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner was working to determine the cause of death.
No arrests have been made at this time. The NYC Fire Marshall was still investigating the cause of the fire.
