Although the excitement of the World Cup is over, soccer fever lives on in Astoria, where dozens of kids signed up for a soccer camp funded by City Councilmember Peter F. Vallone Jr.
The Federation of Italian American Societies of Queens conducted the annual soccer camp at 20th Avenue and 32nd Street. The two-week camp attracted approximately 50 local children, ages 8 to 14. Vallone stopped by the camp on July 15, passed out T-shirts and chatted with the participants.
