Michelle Kawka, the photographer behind High Heels Studios Inc., is dedicated to creating a strong visual identity for each of her clients. Kawka aims to make eye-catching photography an integral part of the marketing strategy, branding and publicity for every client she works with.
Specializing in corporate projects, public relations, events, advertising, editorial, travel, architectural photography and product shoots, Kawka works in both the studio and on location. “My photos have a distinct bold, graphic, emotional and colorful style,” she said.
High Heels Studios uses the latest in photo technology and is 100 percent digital, allowing for the immediate review of photos, fast turnaround, and high quality. Kawka said she is particularly fond of shooting portraits, especially for people looking for unique and interesting photos or headshots. “We are a visual culture, especially with the predominance of the Internet,” said Kawka. “Nothing is sold or presented today without a photo attached to it.”
Her portrait clients include families, actors, business people and those seeking photos for online dating profiles. Kawka’s corporate clients range from Post It Notes, Nexcare First Aid Products, and Kangaroos Shoes, to New York City Councilmember Eric Ulrich and the Queens Long Island Medical Group.
Kawka discovered her love of photography while studying abroad in Padova, Italy while she was a student at Wesleyan University.
Since High Heels Studios was founded in 2005, Kawka’s business has grown and her photos have been published in Business Week, Condé Nast Traveler, Interior Design, Surface Magazine and The Queens Courier. In addition, ThisIsOurQueens.com, Kawka’s series of 200 portraits of people who live, work or are from the borough of Queens, was recently chosen as one of the American Society of Media Photographers 20 best projects of 2009.
