The Senior Umbrella Network of Queens (SUN-Queens) held its annual end-of-the-year luncheon on June 26 at Patrizia’s of Bayside.
SUN-Queens consists of professionals who work specifically with seniors. They also provide resources for caregivers of older adults, as well as serve as a way for professionals to network, learn and advocate.
At the luncheon, Senator Toby Stavisky briefly spoke of the problems that the senior care facilities and community centers are facing. She also commended the administrators and founders for their hard work in keeping and maintaining them well.
SUN-Queens and Stavisky then awarded a scholarship to recipient Amiel Choy, a York College student, who is currently pursuing a field of study in gerontology, which focuses on the care of the elderly and older adults.
