A candlelight vigil will be held in Ridgewood on Friday Nov. 23 in honor of Arkadiusz Jasinski, the homeless man found dead at a local street corner following a snowstorm.

Father Mike Lopez of All Saints Catholic Church in Ridgewood is inviting the community to take a moment and remember Jasinski during a memorial which will be held at the corner of Forest and Putnam Avenues where he froze to death during the Nov. 15 storm. His body was discovered the following morning.

Jasinski, who went by Arek, resided in the neighborhood and would frequently sleep at the intersection of both streets; he apparently died while sleeping during the snowstorm, according to Lopez.

Arek frequented the Hungry Monk Rescue Truck, a homeless outreach mission based at All Saints Catholic Church which provides food to people living on the streets.

Since its inception, All Saints Catholic Church — which is of the Old American tradition and not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church — has welcomed and comforted people of all walks of life. All Saints has worked extensively with senior citizens and low-income residents of Ridgewood, providing monthly free meals for them and celebrations on all major holidays. The church holds its Masses at Covenant Lutheran Church on 60th

The vigil starts at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23. For more information, go to myallsaints.org or call 347-592-5423.
