Send valentines to veterans

By Tom Momberg

State Assemblyman Ed Braunstein (D-Bayside) has announced his 20th-annual Valentines for Vets gift drive.

Sponsoring the drive in partnership with the law offices of Ann-Margaret Carrozza, Braunstein collects cards, candy, toiletries and clothing for hospitalized and disabled veterans every year.

“For the last 20 years, these donations have brightened the days of thousands of veterans by showing that we care about them and appreciate their sacrifices,” Carrozza said. “It would mean a great deal to our hospitalized heroes if you would choose to be their valentine by donating to our drive.”

Gifts can be dropped off at Braunstein’s office, 213-33 39th Ave., Suite 238; the Carrozza office, 213-38 40th Ave.; the Whitestone Ambulance Service, 12-15 150th St.; or at the office of Community Board 11, 46-21 Little Neck Pkwy.

The deadline for donations is Wednesday, Feb. 10, when the collected items are scheduled to be taken to the St. Albans VA Community Living Center and the state Veterans Home at St. Albans, Braunstein said.

For more information, call Braunstein’s office at 718-357-3588 or Carrozza’s office at 718-224-4746.
